Getting Extremely Transparent with Custom Graphic Design.

By Hampton Freeman

Sometimes the most eye-popping designs show less.  Literally. When Aurora Diagnostics asked us to create a promotional piece for them, we got to thinking. Aurora is one of the nation’s leading pathology companies that specializes in the study of human cellular tissue. They are hyper focused and use state-of-the-art equipment to determine our cellular breakdown. Yes, we could use their logo and slap it on a bracelet, but we wanted the doctors that walk through the tradeshows to really use something that they would find fun and inventive, just as they are! That’s why we decided to create custom graphic design coasters.

We Decided to Create Custom Graphic Design Coasters

We decided to create coasters, that look like microscope slides. Showing actual cellular samples provided by the labs, we created custom coasters that have fun and playful sayings that dermatopathologists would especially love and appreciate.

Each Coaster Had a Unique Specimen and Tagline

We designed a set of 4 different versions, each with a unique specimen and tagline, to be as interactive as possible.  The look of the coasters change depending on whether they are placed on a light or dark surface. The doctors who have received them can’t help but pick them up and play with them, examining how the transparency really lights up the images just like their microscopes light up their specimens.

These beautiful coasters are printed on 1/8 inch acyclic for maximum durability, and are custom cut into a perfect circle with a clean edge.  They stand out wherever they are placed, and we’re not the only ones who thinks so.  Sack Lunch is proud to announce that Aurora’s transparent slide coasters received an American Package Design Award in Health + Wellness from Graphic Design USA, in its 56thannual graphic design competition.
